Does the affects of Shaken Baby Syndrome remain through adulthood?

I saw a baby with this syndrome at church, and inquired about her age. I was surprised that she was a year old but could not talk or move. She hears very well, because she responds to singing no matter how softly it's done. Her aunt, who was caring for her that Sunday, said that according to the doctor it was too early in her life to know whether she could see or not, She seldom opened her eyes, and when she did, they were not focused.unless you were talking to her or singing.
