What is the name of this sci-fi movie?

i remember elvira hosted it one night about 20 years ago or so. it hadmonsterthat hypnotized with it's eye or light or something like that so that people came to it so it could suck it up and eat it. one part i remember was it got this guy with combat boots on and elvira made a comment and it spit the boots back out after it sucked him up. i was young back then and it's been bugging the hell out of me what that movie was.
